Hong Kong Highlights

Before I get to the highlights of our trip so far, I need to take a minute and send out a HUGE thank you to our friends and family who so graciously took the time last night to bless us and our daughter, Anna, by attending her dance recital when we could not. I cannot tell you how difficult is was not to be there, and how wonderful it felt to know that she was being supported and encouraged and loved on by all of you. Bless you for sitting through all of those numbers performed by other people's kids just so you could watch my kid. We are humbled by the many ways our friends and family are supporting us in this process, and we so appreciate you all!

So, here are some photos of our time in Hong Kong. Of course, I know everyone is really only wanting to see photos of our new daughter, but we have to do something to pass the time until TOMORROW!!!!! Can't believe it. These are all out of order, but here goes....

These were on taken on our walk around the top of Victoria's Peak. Ty and Madelyn had some extra energy to burn and got a little competitive on the excercise circuit.

This is a cemetary we passed on route to Stanley Market. It is nestled in among on the buildings in downtown Hong Kong, and was quite something. I heard someone say that people rent their burial plots. Not really sure how that works????

Repulse Bay, on the way to Stanley Market. The photo above isn't very good, but there is an amusement park on top of the mountain, and we could see a big roller coaster hovering along the edge. No thank you.

Shopping at Stanley Market. It's amazing how the inventory is much the same as it was in Beijing and Guangzhou two years ago. Sooooo many shops.

This is the double-decker bus we took on the 30min. trip to Stanley Market. And, yes, we rode on top. And, yes, we rode in the front seat. Because, yes, we have Madelyn with us, and why would you ride anywhere else? Let's just say the rode was narrow. And winding. And up a mountain. And stopping distances aren't what they are back home. And we met LOTS of buses coming the other way. Nuf said.

On top of another double-decker bus, this time open-air.

View of Hong Kong from the top of Victoria's Peak.

We took this tram up the mountain to Victoria's Peak. This was built in the late 1800's and has a nice steep incline :)

Riding the ferry across the bay to Hong Kong Island. Are you getting the sense that this has been a bit of a "planes, trains and automobiles" kind of adventure so far? Actually, we haven't even been in an automobile, but we have done planes, buses, ferries, subways and trains.
