Guangzhou City Lights

After a restful afternoon we headed into the city for the evening.  On our walk from the hotel to the "city center market" we passed through the local outdoor "medicine" shops with your assortment of dried mushrooms, herbs, snake skins, scorpions, and such.  Just your run of the mill local Rite Aid.  Through the next street we passed through the local "pets mart".  There you can pick up your typical puppy or kitten as well as a chipmunk, turtle, and squirrel if you are so inclined.

At the city center Joe took some of the group to a pearl shop where the girls did some shopping.  They were able to find some necklaces and bracelets at very reasonable prices.  By this point everyone was hungry so the group headed to Pizza Hut.  We decided to play it safe with a cheese and a veggie pizza (includes corn and pineapple).  The seafood pizza came with squid if that is to your liking.

After dinner we enjoyed the lights at the city center which resembled a small Times Square.  Keep in mind Guangzhou has between 8-9 million people.  Then on the walk back to the hotel we stopped to pick up another suitcase to bring back all of our new treasures.

Tomorrow we head to the US consulate in the afternoon to complete the adoption.
